I have been with Affordable Host for a little while now. So far I have experience top notch support with excellent professionalism by Tina Peters the owner. And they also own and control their own datacenter. These other reviews saying Affordable Host is bad are a joke. They are the best hosting company I have come across in a while. They have won awards for their great service. Try them out, you will not be dissapointed.

My account was on a server that was very slow. After only three months and over a dozen stupid help desk tickets. My account was moved by now I have to move my files. Each time I was given a new date. Here are some typical replies (cut and paste not my words): 1. Your account is on a server that has not yet been moved to the new datacenter. All of the servers will eventually be moved to the new datacenter. However, if you would like to have an account setup right away - let us know via the HelpDesk (9/26/2002) 2..Sorry about the delay but we are only human and we do make mistakes! (11/17/2002) 3. The server should be moved sometime this week Due to technical difficulties the server will be moved within a week. It is our #1 priority as of now, but in the meantime we can move to the Proteus upon request (11/15/2002)

20 bucks a year for domain hosting. Well folks, you get what you pay for. Their help desk is the most ridiculous system I've ever seen. You have to go to the site, fill out a form, get a ticket number and password and then later go back and check on the response by cutting and pasting this information from your email. In 2002 there isn't an easier system? The owner just doesn't seem to take anything serious. I don't know if it's a bunch of kids running it from their livingroom or what, but if it's a serious site, go elsewhere and pay a bit more.

Went a week with really slow access, told me to move site to new data center servers. Was completely down for over a week with very unreliable email and web access. I find it funny they shut down their message boards at affordablehost.com. If you rely on your site for business purposes - get something reputable and spend a few extra bucks.
At least my yahoo email works reliably.

STAY AWAY! Since the move to a new data center last month, I am down several times a week, and connect to all 5 of my sites at 500 BYTES/sec or less. Every help desk ticket says they are "working on it", and they complain about how busy they are trying to get things back to normal. That doesn't help me or my business!
I am growing tired of filling out new help desk tickets for the same problems every day with no resolution in site. They also refuse to answer phone messages.
When my year is up, I'm gone with all 5 sites, and they have lost the other 6 I maintain that I was transferring to them by year's end.
I'm not alone, they took down one of their forums because of all the service complaints showing up.

Yes, AffordableHost is inexpensive, very inexpensive. But ... you get what you pay for.
It seems to be a bunch of teenagers running the place, very unprofessional. Site with AffordableHost has been down at least twice a week.
You go through a help desk forum-type process to alert them to problems, you have to fill in the blanks and then check back later to get a response. They will not deal with you on email or on the telephone.
They also claim to register the domain in your name on their website. BEWARE, they DO NOT. If you have an account with them, look up your domain. You don't own it.
Very shady.

Recently, without notice, disabled use of fopen() on their servers - apparently ban all Bulletin Board scripts as well, on the basis of "security" issues, while using an old, unpatched & easily hackable version of Vbulletin for their own forum!!

After being with another company for about a year, and being treated like just a number, or a 'webspace', my girlfriend told me about http://www.affordablehost.com, I did some research and decided to give them a try. The set up and registration process was extreamly painless, and their pricing plans are quite wonderful! I have had a couple questions, and submitted to their customer support, and each and every time, received a reply within 24 hours! I highly reccomend AffordableHost.com, they really back up thier claim of wonderful customer support and reliable hosting.
