Always do your homework first. I cannot comment on their service as I did not purchase it (I wish I did not have to choose a star rating). They are probably excellent for simple server side scripted web sites, but I could not choose them for my simple J2EE hosting needs. I want a full J2EE playground.
Only their premium plan permits Tomcat. They claim that Tomcat uses too much CPU resources. Compared to what? They did not give an answer on JBoss, but I managed to glean that they expect your memory usage to be around 48 MB, 64MB is "pushing it". My current provider allows me 200+ and no restrictions on my J2EE architecture. VPS doesn't really buy you much with such harsh restrictions. LOL, it's like renting a hosted palm pilot.

I've been using Westhost for the past 4 years, never a problem, tech support is almost instant, Im currently moving all the sites I manage to them form another host, even at a small additional expense, because to the stable nature of their equipment and solid support, Im the past I decided to "not put all my eggs in one basket" type of fellow, but constant problems with other host and service decay, I see no reason not to after all this time.

as a long-time web designer, i remember the days when hosting was really expensive, especially if you wanted database connectivity or a scriptiong language like perl supported. things have changed a bit now. westhost is a perfect example of how web hosting has gotten better in the past few years. for only $8.95 a month you get aton of features including php, mysql, tons of server space and even the ever-elusive (especially at this price) SSL. i highly recommend westhost as a hosting company. i have moved all of my clients over to their servers.

I've been using WestHost for the past 8 months and I've had a great experience with them. There uptime has been great and whenever I have questions they are quick to respond. They offer a variety of features and have just added ASP support, which is a huge plus.
I recommend them.
